Accessibility at AngularConnect

We’re committed to improving accessibility at AngularConnect. We know there’s always more we could do, and we’d love to hear your comments and ideas. Please feel free to email us at hello@angularconnect.com if you don’t see what you need here:

Code of Conduct

AngularConnect is a friendly conference where everyone should feel welcome, safe and comfortable to share ideas and engage in open discussion without threat of intimidation or public embarrassment. We expect all delegates, speakers, organisers and staff to be respectful to one another in person and on social media, and to adhere to our Code of Conduct. We are committed to taking swift and appropriate action in the event of a violation of this code.

Scholarship Fund

In an effort to open up the conference and make it accessible to people who might not otherwise be able to attend, we’ve again allocated a number of scholarship tickets. These free places will be awarded to individuals from underrepresented groups in tech or those facing economic and social hardship, and successful applicants will receive access to all content across both days, food, drink and all the extras. In some cases, we are able to cover travel and accommodation expenses. See our blog post for more details.

Access requirements

Our conference and workshop venue, ExCeL London, is fully wheelchair accessible. It has step-free access, doorways wide enough to accommodate wheelchairs, elevator access to all floors, and dedicated accessible toilet facilities. ExCeL London is also able to provide wheelchairs to those who need one, free of charge.

Service animals such as guide dogs are welcome at the conference. We are able to provide complimentary tickets to assistants of those with disabilities, for example sign language interpreters.

Please contact us if you have any access requirements you’d like to discuss. We will do our best to accommodate them, and we’ll be happy to reserve you a ticket if it's not immediately clear whether we’re able to provide the assistance you need.

Live captioning and hearing loop

We are installing a hearing loop in both of the main track spaces for use by people with hearing aids. We will also be providing real-time captioning in English for all talks. This will be displayed on screens at the front of the auditorium, and attendees will have access to a link that can be viewed and customised in the browser on their personal device.

Mental wellbeing

We know that some people can find two days at a conference surrounded by large groups a little overwhelming or hard to manage. We will be providing a quiet chill out area and running mindfulness sessions for those who need a peaceful moment’s reflection. Our evening party will include plenty of fun options depending on your energy level, from music and dancing, to a hackspace and quieter areas to chat to other attendees.

Dietary requirements

There will be a vegetarian option available as standard during lunch. We are able to cater for more specific requirements (such as gluten free, allergies, Kosher, Halal, vegan as so on) with advance notice. We ask all attendees to let us know about any special dietary requirements at the point of registration.

Sponsors

Many thanks to our wonderful sponsors. If you’d like to get involved in supporting AngularConnect, please request a sponsor pack.
